This is the third time posting!!!

I dont like blogger i have retyped this many many times now!! Sorry i am going to be brief because i have other work to be done and at this point real aggrivated. :(

1.)Shawn is my son, who is with me all the time so he was the natural choice for these pictures. You will notice that in the next two images, the depth of field is switched between Shawn and the sapling in front of him
...
update
this will not let me upload the photos!! argh!!!

well at anyrate the last photo is of shawn standing next to a tree with the focus on a well in the yard across the street.

please see my actual portfolio for pics or my flickr site

Person, Place or Thing

1.) Photograph is of, my dad, R.J. Stewart. He is a mechanic by trade and has spent many long nights in his garage behind the house. Often overlooked and taken for granted by the fellows, whose vehicles made a miraculous recovery within these walls, my dad is a master at his craft. It has been said of him, "If Stewie can't fix it...it was never broken"

I like the technique of capturing both front and back of the subject, with the use of a mirror. This technique, was learned from my mom, Nancy, who remembers her parents taking pictures like this of her brothers and sisters and herself.

2.) This photo uses a bounce light to act like a spotlight. It sets my dad apart from the background as he reaches up high to retrieve a paint sprayer used for painting cars.

3.) The last photo is of "Marco", who is a 120#+ Italian Mastiff. At first glance you might be scared of Marco, because of his size. This Photo however shows his true self. He is a mush at heart, frequently spraying your feet in delight that you have returned. You can not make out his red stuffed lion that is beside him on the kitchen floor. This lion is the gift he brings to you when you return...all while spraying your feet. lol.

Portfolio ~ Photography I

The following is a combination of (1) Person, Place, or Thing , (2) Depth of Field, (3) Contact Sheet & Test Sheet. It is also the gallery review. I don't have the time to go and find a show, so i will describe each of these pictures seperately.

Writing Assignment ~ Post Spring Break

The first half of Photography I has been a fun and informative one. I learned all about the art of photography, the history behind the art and met a lot of new friends in the process, so to speak. :) . I learned about what an F-Stop is, how the shutter speed effects the "stop motion" of action items and the proper way to "frame" a picture as its being snapped. I gained understanding on the different film ISO speeds and what they have to do with the grain size and overall clarity of the photograph. The lower the ISO, the finer and sharper the picture. I built a working pinhole camera out of an ordinary milk carton, and got great results. I can now develop pan film and make a decent positive print from the negative. I feel like i have bonded with my fellow classmates and have gained new friends, who share in the passion for photography and amazement in its' inner-workings.

The second half of the semester, i hope to take more dynamic photos. I'd like to try and capture something that is all too common for me lately, due to the cold weather and a very hairy cat.....a static shock! That would be great. The static shock is powerful and dangerous yet very interesting. It would be nice to capture it on film using a highspeed shutter.
